The weather has been so nice in Maine lately, today it was in the 60's (Surprising for March.) So... I am extremely excited for summer, my favorite season. Some of my favorite things:

roam if you want to, roam around the world (Half Moon Bay part 2)

So this is part two of my Half Moon Bay post. I took the photos at one of the beaches right near downtown Half Moon Bay. It was so windy I honestly thought that I might blow away. The waves were gigantic. I wish that I was wearing a bathing suit (and I was a good surfer)  because they would've been the best waves to surf. However, it was cold, and windy enough to blow the sea foam into the air and nearly hit me in the face. Since it was so windy, my aunt sat in the car while I walked onto the beach and took about 600 pictures of the waves, but I narrowed it down to these few:

she said, i will never be your queen (half moon bay part 1)

On my last day in California, I went to Half Moon Bay with my aunt. We Went to one of our favorite shops, The Nest. It is an outdoor garden- type shop full of random little things. My aunt got a patio table and I got a mermaid bookend.

Next we went to get lunch by the water, and then to a really cool surf shop, Mavericks. The Mavericks are these ridiculously huge waves that come once a year. 

Each winter, during a waiting period typically set for sometime between November and March – if and when conditions are perfect, and giant swells roll in from far across the Pacific – The Mavericks Surf Contest® is held. On just 24 hours notice, two dozen of the surfing community’s bravest and most skillful souls assemble to confront the thundering mountain of salt water many consider to be the most dangerous wave Mother Nature has ever concocted.

So basically people from all over the place, like Hawaii, fly into Half Moon Bay on 24 hours notice for the Mavericks Surf Contest. And it's amazing. 

Plus I got a "half moon" chocolate chip cookie. And it was delicious.

I am putting this post into two parts because I have a ton of photos from the beach that won't fit into this one post. I'll probably publish it tomorrow :)

On the first weekend that I  was in California, I went to San Francisco with my aunt and grandma. We did what we normally do, got the the Ferry Building, which inside has a ton of shops and restaurants. And we also went to Crissy Field, the park and beach area right near the Golden Gate Bridge. It was such a nice day, sunny and beautiful.

While I visited California, I stayed at my grandma's house. Everyday was beautifully sunny, and I got to wear shorts, tee shirts and dresses! (unfortunately I had to return to a snowy Maine) Almost every day I walked down to my favorite my favorite coffee shop Peets, got an iced coffee, and walked to Mitchell Park, where I read for an hour or two. It was the best thing ever. I also got to visit my old friends, and see my family. And I went to San Francisco and Half Moon Bay (posts coming soon)

Plus there was a man playing guitar which was extremely lucky because my ipod was dead. And his music was beautiful

Okay, so I'm back home in Califnornia for the week, so I probably won't be posting until I get back. But I'm sure that I'll have a ton of photos for you when I return!

an art blog

I have started an art blog. This will be a place where I will post old projects, current assignments, random sketches and paintings, both school work and personal. I am making this blog partially for my new photography class, and partially for me and you.

I'm usually not the type of person to publish my artwork, I'm not sure if I'm embarassed, or just haven't wanted to share it, but I've decided that I want to. The first post I made on my new blog is just a couple of old sketches form my last year's Art 1 class.
